I need to get it off my chest ... I will die if I hold it in any longer ... My dad ... a scientist ... currently living in the US ... has lived there since 1994 ... is well-travelled ... my very own dad thinks that FRIENDS (TV Show) should not be aired in Egypt because it exposes youth to "bad" ideas ... dating, gay relations, and sex.
Should I just give up? I am tired of fighting the same fights over and over and over ..... OK ... one more time: No one has the right to limit another human being's choices .... show me the menu and let me choose ... give me the options and I will bear the consequences ....
This is so wrong ..... No wonder I always need to fly, flee, and feel free .... I guess I blocked a lot of childhood memories ... I remember that the door was always locked.

Maybe it is bad but not for the reasons your dad has stated. I think a lot of TV is bad for youngsters no matter where they come from, it makes them set unrealistic life expectations. Romance is easy, breakups are funny and many of life's hardships are turned into laughs and usually end in a 30 minute episode.
well u think this is strange, a couple of years ago they attacked mickey for promoting open relationships, single and no paren family and greed, bet u can guess who the later reffered to.

Sorry Mar-mar, but let's face it, your dad is taking advantage of America, iam not insulting him, i just describe his act and it's the fault of the Americans anyway, in general iam talking also about everybody act like this not just your dad, this is wrong... and educated civilized people supposed not to think this way.
Saw your father agreed with the view of many Egyptians, but I think this will change the next generation of thought and to reflect safety

We were raised up as that; this is wrong and that a man of real won't ever accept his sister or daughter kissing or hugging or even having a boy friend!!
That the security and neighbors must like your attitude, and if not then you are a loose girl!!
We are in the society that when a man wants to marry a girl he goes and ask the "bawab" and the butcher and I don't know who!!

she is telling her dad lives in the states since 1994.
i think u will find more than ur dad share this thought. friends for me was the best show ever. and i can say that for many, but i nver really went and saw ppl trying to act like joey or chandler, or monica for that case
and although its from the menu we will choose, they as parents are here to advise.
